Welcome! In 1988 I started researching and documenting the genealogy information for my father's Bollenbacher and Mersy families from Aschbach, Germany and my mother's Schwarz and Wolf families from Hinzweiler, Germany. About 1997 I ran into a dead end with my families genealogy research. After going over the same Rheinland-Pfalz (Rhineland-Palatine) region church and civil records, again and again, I decided to create a one surname databases which would contains all of the information that I was able to find that relates to individuals with the surname BOLLENBACHER (varied spelling) and their related families lines. With the help of many Bollenbacher researchers, the World Wide Web, plus information from other sources, I have compiled the information in this database. The genealogy program PAF 5 is my primary data storage program and Legacy 4 is used as my secondary program. The database contains various spelling of each given name and surname, therefore you must check the different spelling when you are looking for an individual. Some given names have been given a standard spelling to make your search easier ( ex. - Katherine = Catherine, Karl = Carl, etc. ).
I believe the origin of the BOLLENBACHER surname is from the villages, in the Pfalz region of Germany, named BOLLENBACH. When the use of surnames was put into practice, I believe that some of the individual family groups which originated from a village of Bollenbach may have used Bollenbach or Bollenbacher as their families surname (ex. Johannes from Bollenbach = Johannes Bollenbacher).
You can view the database (built 012/11/02) in three different formats: 1. PAF 5* generated pages with Individuals linked to their family members plus my notes. 2. Legacy 4** generated Family Group Sheets, linked but no notes and 3. Legacy 4 generated page with Individuals linked but with no notes. The only difference in these three database is in the way the information is presented. To save space on this web site only one database has notes, the other information is the same in each file. There are some photographs in the files and more will be added in the future (click on the thumb nail photos to enlarge them).
The data of living people is not knowingly listed in this database, contact me if you need this information and I will ask that person to contact you. If you have addition information or correction, please e-mail me or send me a hard copy of your data. I do not download GEDCOM files to my database. Please include documentation if you have it.
